Pain in the Ash
The way to cultivate the land here for sugar cane is to burn off the cane field after harvest. Frequently you can smell the fields burning, and while it's not altogether unpleasant, the ash certainly is. That crap can travel such great distances, it's almost divine.
I totally wanted to jump in the pool this morning to wake up, but there was ash in it. Big black strips and chunks, and they just stick to you if you jump in. Ew. So I went out by the beach, and while I was sitting on my little steps, you just see the ash floating through the air like gossamer.
Luckily, we only have this problem when they're burning the fields on the more western side, but they've apparently been doing that all week. So annoying.
